Most companies will ask you the proper readout and you are responsible for confirming the information to them as accurately as possible.
There are several reasons why odometer corrections on your car might become a necessity. You could discover bad wiring that is causing problems with the dashboard mechanisms. On the other hand, if your car is in a collision and an entire new dashboard must be installed, you will have to set the new odometer to the correct mileage since the new odometer will automatically read zero.
